How can I use my diploma?

The MSc is completed with the awarding of a Diploma of Postgraduate Studies entitled "Social - Preventive Medicine and Quality in Healthcare" in one of the following two (2) specializations:

  • "Prevention and Public Health", or
  • "Quality in Health Care".

The MSc provides high quality training of scientists, capable of applying the principles of the scientific fields of Social Medicine, Public Health, Preventive Medicine, as well as Quality of Health Care in their professional activity in the field of health care.

Specifically, graduates of the MSc will have an insight into all the factors that determine health and the applications of Preventive Medicine in both daily clinical practice and Public Health. They will be able to apply international practices of quality improvement in health care delivery, in the parameters of safety, effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness, equity and person-centeredness.

In addition, they will understand the basic principles of epidemiology and research methodology in order to acquire the knowledge required for both the critical reading of international literature and the design, implementation and presentation of a research study.

The provision of specialized knowledge and skills to the graduates will equip them:

  • To staff public or private research and educational institutions, health-related institutions or organizations, disease prevention or control services or public health services at local, regional or national level, as well as health care services/units, contributing to the control and improvement of the quality of their services.
  • To pursue an academic career, providing them with basic training in research methodology and giving them access to a PhD thesis, if they so wish.
